🧒🏼Free Commons for Kids – Characters Day @ Columbus Commons

Our Commons for Kids series brings families from Central Ohio to the heart of Downtown Columbus, Friday mornings between June 7 and August 9. Each week, a variety of activities keeps the kids entertained, including inflatables, face painting, crafts and much more! 

Join us for our Characters at the Commons from 10am to 1pm and meet some of your favorite princesses, superheroes or character.

🌳Free – Kids Nature Walk @ Zipzone

Join us for a short nature walk on the grounds at ZipZone with a naturalist from the Franklin County Metro Parks!  Look and listen for animals on the forest floor as you explore the woods and ravines to learn what lives here before you soar above them on a zip line tour or adventure park climbing adventure.  

Reservations on for our other programs are not required to attend this nature walk. 🎥Movies in the Moonlight: Brave @ John Bishop Memorial Park

Parks  and Recreation will be showing Brave Friday August 2. Food, water and pre-movie activities will begin at 7 and the movie will start at 9pm. This event is FREE for everyone!  

📚Story Time at Night Under the Stars

The library will be visiting the Grandview Heights Parks & Recreation’s family campout at Wyman Woods park for a special camping story time for kids of all ages.

🌻SunflowerFest 2019 @ Branstool Orchards

Come bask in the bright and cheerful sunflower field at Branstool Orchard’s first ever SunflowerFest! Take a walk, take photos, take time away from the hustle and bustle of the city life – or any life – and get back to the beauty of mother nature. 

Our field will open on Saturday, August 3rd and close at the end of the day on Sunday, August 11th.  The hayrides will start at 10AM each day with the last ride at 4PM. Prices are as follows:

—Friday, Saturday & Sunday online $10 (ages 3 & up). At the gate, if space allows $15. 

—Monday – Thursday online $7.50 (ages 3 & up). At the gate, if space allows $10.

All tickets include a hayride to the sunflower field and one cut flower of the guest’s choice.

Additional flowers available for purchase online or at the gate.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

–Saturday, August 3rd will feature: Yoga at 9AM for $15 and include one cut flower, a craft/vendor fair from 10AM – 6PM, Star City Sliders Food Truck 10AM – 3PM, J-Pops Gourmet Popsicles 3PM – 6PM, Fiddle in the Sunflower Field 1PM – 3PM. 

–Sunday, August 4th will feature Star City Sliders Food Truck 10AM – 5PM and Barefoot McCoy music from 1PM – 3PM.

–Friday, August 9th will be our Sunflower Painting Party in the sunflower field for $35 and include all supplies and the lesson.

—-Saturday, August 10th will feature Yoga at 9AM for $15 and include one cut flower, Star City Sliders from 10AM – 3PM and Fiddle in the Field from 1PM – 3PM.

Sunday, August 11th will feature Star City Sliders from 10AM – 5PM & bluegrass music from Chestnut Ridge from 1PM – 3PM.

🐛Bugstravaganza !

Come out for a day of adventure: Catch and release bugs (butterflies, dragonfly’s and much more), take a tram ride, explore the creek, make crafts, learn about and visit a pollinator garden and get a chance to see LIVE insects up close.

Hop aboard the tram at any of the “tram stop” signs and enjoy a guided tour of the park. Last tour departs at 5:45pm.
