🌲Camp & Activities Expo @ Columbus Zoo

The expo will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.

The 2019 Columbus Parent Summer Camp Guide comes alive at this annual event. Families can meet sponsors and exhibitors and learn about camps and activities in a fun, face-to-face environment. It’s a perfect complement to the extremely popular Summer Camp Guide in our March issue, which will be distributed at the expo. 

Attendees also can enjoy visits from zoo animals at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and those who fill out an Event Passport as they visit with exhibitors will have a chance to win giveaways and camp scholarships.

Guests can receive an incredible admission deal as part of the expo. A special coupon will provide attendees with zoo admission for up to six people, parking at the zoo and admission to the expo for just $5. 🦋Blooms & Butterflies Opening Week @ Franklin Park Conservatory

1777 E Broad St, Columbus

Blooms & Butterflies is back! This year marks the 25th anniversary of this enchanted exhibition, where hundreds of butterflies fly from one colorful bloom to the next in the Pacific Island Water Garden. The exhibition is open daily 10am-5pm from March 9 to Sept. 15 and included with general admission to the Conservatory.  

During the exhibition, be sure to catch the following special experiences:

Butterflies 101: daily, 1pm & 3pm

Get a deeper insight of the species that make up Blooms & Butterflies as a specialist releases a selection of individual butterflies into the biome. With different varieties of butterflies emerging from their chrysalises daily, every presentation is unique.

🐸Vernal Pool Celebration @ Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park

Enjoy a fun-filled day of activities as we learn about some of our strangest and most important wetlands and the creatures that live there.

Throughout the day, you can play “Feed the Frog” or “Pin the Tail on the Tadpole.” Hunt for the frogs hidden around the Nature Center and win a prize. Touch vernal pool critters and look at them up close with a microscope. Use crayons in our coloring station and create your own wetland craft. Learn about local wetlands from groups like the Ohio Wetland Association and MAD Scientist Associates.

🐺Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf: Children’s Opera@ Bexley Library

Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?–a 35-minute adaptation of Mozart’s Don Giovanni–tells the story of the infamous wolf who bullies the fairy tale creatures of the forest. But, when the creatures band together to teach the wolf the error of his ways, they learn that through the power of friendship, love, and forgiveness, they can conquer the biggest, baddest bullies. This program is brought to BPL by Capital University’s Opera Engagement Program with generous funding from the Bexley Community Foundation.
