🐣The Science of Chick Hatching @ Westerville Library

Through 3/18

Discover the excitement of chick hatching with a teacher from Bring the Farm to You. Learn about the different steps of chicken development from egg to fuzzy chick. 

Then visit the library over the following weeks to see the process come to life with incubating eggs on public display in Youth Services. Approximate hatch date is Wednesday, March 18. Live chicks will be picked up on Wednesday, March 25.

Our indoor season begins Saturday, November 2 from 9:00 a.m. – noon inside the beautiful Phil Heit Center for Healthy New Albany, 1500 West Main Street in New Albany, Ohio. The market will run one time per month on the first Saturday of the month, November through March. 

We strive to bring you locally produced products: honey, fresh & local produce, meat and poultry, salsas, baked goods, coffee, artisan goods, ice cream, eggs, pastas and sauces, etc. Live music and a warm, community atmosphere.

🦉Owls! Who Gives a Hoot? I Do and Why.

Ornithologist Bob Scott Placier will discuss owl diversity and biology in Ohio, with a special focus on the Northern Saw-whet Owl.  A licensed bird bander, Bob is a board member of the Inland Bird Banding Association and a member of Project Owlnet, a nationwide research collaborative documenting the migration and habits of owls.  The event will be held free of charge in the Huntington Chapel near the center of the cemetery. No registration is required. 

Bob Scott Placier is a retired instructor from the School of Natural Resources at Hocking College where he taught Ornithology, Dendrology, and Woodland Ecology.

🖼March Gallery Hop @Short North Arts District

On Saturday, March 7, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., celebrate art in the Short North Arts District at Gallery Hop! In addition to street performers, artisan vendors, and special events, this month’s Gallery Hop will feature new exhibitions and works at Brandt-Roberts Galleries, Lindsay Gallery, Marcia Evans Gallery, (Not) Sheep Gallery, Sarah Gormley Gallery, Sean Christopher Gallery Ohio and Sharon Weiss Gallery, as well as a live portrait painting at Found by Sharon Weiss Gallery.

Gallery Hoppers can explore artwork in all forms that depict and prompt discussion on the power of myth and self-empowerment, as in “Only Bangers” by Adam Hernandez at Lindsay Gallery; environmental issues and reconnection with nature, as in “Altered Perceptions” by Char Norman and Catherine Bell Smith at (Not) Sheep Gallery; and iconic Columbus scenes and buildings that show the humanity within us as expressed by the space around us, as in Fiona Miller’s work at Sarah Gormley Gallery. Prologue Bookshop also calls attention to Columbus with a book signing by the editor and one of the authors of “Columbus Noir,” a brand-new collection of stories from local authors about the darker, grittier side of Columbus, a city rapidly growing into itself as a metropolis.
