🌲Opt Outside: Opt to Act Columbus, Hike & Trash Cleanup @ Scioto Audubon

A few years ago, REIcreated a movement by shutting its doors on Black Friday and asking its members to Opt Outside. This year they’ve upped the ante with Opt to Act, a clean up challenge.

Several outdoor-loving communities & businesses (Hashtag 59One80Out SupplyCliff OriginalStudio 35 Cinema & Drafthouse52 Hike Challenge, & REI) are coming together to Opt to Act in Columbus & we’d love for you to join us!

Our clean-up/hike will begin at 10am on November 29that Scioto Audubon Metro Park. We will meet at the Grange Audubon Center, then head out to clean up the Scioto Greenway Trail. This paved trail traces the Scioto River and provides great city & water views. While the trail extends 10 miles, we’ll hike/clean up closer to 3 miles and plan to regroup around 11:30for trash collection & high fives and head up to the Big Room Barat CD102.5for an after party celebration until 1ish in the afternoon. Grab your family and friends and get into the holiday spirit at the Hilliard Tree Lighting on Sunday, Dec. 1 from 4 – 6:30 p.m.!

This year’s celebration marks the 30th annual Tree Lighting in Old Hilliard. The evening will be full of fun and free festivities for all to enjoy at Hilliard’s Station Park, Main Street, the Historical Village, and the Hilliard Civic and Cultural Arts Center.

The event is walk-able, but a trolley will also be available from the Chase Bank parking lot to the Historical Village.

Convenient and free parking is available at the Franklin County Fairgrounds, the lot at Madison and Wayne Streets, and the Makoy Center. Handicap parking will be available at the First Responders Park lot.

Civic and Cultural Arts Center

Empty Bowls Project will be selling hot bowls of soup and crackers from 4 – 6:30 p.m.at the Hilliard Civic and Cultural Arts Centeron 5425 Center Street. Bowls are $10/adult and $5/kids 12 and under. Each purchase receives a handcrafted bowl decorated by a Hilliard high schools art students. All proceeds benefit the Hilliard Food Pantry, devoted to fight hunger in our community. Thank you to Columbus Clay and Buckeye Ceramics for their generous donations  for the Empty Bowls Project.

Cram the Cruiser

Help us fill a Hilliard Cruiser with new winter garments at the Hilliard Tree Lighting. All collections will benefit students at Hilliard City Schools, from preschool to 12th grade.

🐪Live Nativity! @ Advent Evangelical Lutheran Church

AdventELC.orgwelcomes everyone to its 48th Annual Live Nativity, FREE! This is a family friendly event that helps everyone experience the Christmas story in a real way.

The Live Nativity features a manger scene with live participants and a petting zoo.  For those interested, attendees are invited to participate as a character in the Live Nativity.  Costumes will be provided. 

As your eyes take in the scene, your other senses will also come alive through the smell and taste of cookies and hot beverages as well as readings from scripture and live music featuring the barbershop harmonies of the Singing Buckeyes, Advent’s Adult Choir, and a Hallelujah Chorus Sing-a-long, as well as other activities.
